About What movie should I watch?

We believe choosing shouldn't be the worst part of movie night.

Why we built this

It started with a familiar frustration: you finally have an evening free, you drop onto the sofa, you open a streaming service — and half an hour later you are still staring at the same browse screen. You half-watched a trailer, clicked "More info" three times, and end up putting on a series you have already seen. The evening is over before the film began.

That does not happen because there is too little to watch, but because there is too much. Every service throws thousands of titles at you, all with a great poster and a catchy line underneath. The more choice you get, the harder it becomes to pick one — and the more likely you are to think afterwards that you chose wrong. We wanted to flip that around.

Our mission

Stop scrolling, just find a movie. That is the whole promise. No reviews to wade through, no endless rows of cover art, no algorithm mainly showing you what the platform wants to shift — just one recommendation that fits your evening, your mood and your taste. And if it does not land, the next one is one click away.

As far as we are concerned that also means you never have to pay, never have to create an account and never have to leave an email address. You arrive, answer a few questions, get your film and go watch it. That is how simple it should be.

How we do it

Our matching engine combines your answers to a few short questions — about time, company, mood, tension and your favourite genres — with the characteristics of hundreds of films. Every answer carries a weight: your genre preference counts heaviest, then your mood, the tension level, the runtime and the rating. Films resembling titles you enjoyed get a bonus, films resembling your turn-offs get a penalty.

Deliberately no AI, then. That does not just save costs we would otherwise have to pass on to you, it also keeps the outcome fair and traceable: with every recommendation you can see exactly why that film suits you. No black box, no hidden preferences for particular studios or platforms.

What you can count on

No paid placements

No film ranks higher in your result because someone paid for it. Advertising with us is only ever visible, in a clearly marked ad block — never hidden inside the recommendations themselves.

Honest about what we do not know

We do not claim a film "is on Netflix" if we cannot be sure, because those catalogues change weekly. Instead we point you to a source where you can see the current situation in one click.

No tearing things down

We do not write scathing reviews. There is already plenty of internet telling you what is bad; we are here to help you find something you will enjoy.

Who is behind this?

What movie should I watch? is made by Luwo Marketing, a small Dutch agency. No big tech company, no investors asking for growth figures — just a project that grew out of a problem we had ourselves every week. The site runs at our own expense, which is exactly why there is a modest ad block and a voluntary donate button somewhere.

Got a film tip, missing a title in our database, or think something could be better? Let us know via the contact page. Every suggestion gets read, and the film list grows partly thanks to people who take the trouble to email.
